Assessment Sept 2014 - Summary
Below is a summary of the assessment presentation on CPD day. (The slides are also on the WIN)
Primaries
- Levels have been removed and will not be replaced by the government.
- Students in yr6 in 2014/15 will sit the old style KS2 tests and will be reported with a level.
- There will be a test to establish a baseline to measure progress against. This will either take place in Reception or Yr1. (Still under consultation)
- The accountability measures for primaries will rise to 85% of pupils being 'Secondary Ready’. This threshold is expected to be higher than the current Level 4 measure.
- From 2016 - KS2 students will receive a scaled score (100 being the threshold - e.g. 112 = above average.) Students will be ranked into deciles. (Still under consultation)
Wildern
- From Sept 2014 we will no longer use the existing Levels for new cohorts of students.
- Year 8 in Sept 2014 will continue to be assessed using Levels to avoid confusion for parents and students.
- SLT will provide the framework for the new assessment model. This will be explored as a whole staff.
- Departments will be responsible for writing the assessment criteria for their curriculum areas.
- The new assessment model will be trialled and communicated to students and parents from June 2013.
